Baking With Spirit: The March Challenge

Somehow, two months have passed: it is March and I am already five weeks into my nine week final year project. Perhaps it is even more difficult to believe that I have made so little progress! In short, the reaction I've been doing just refuses to make the correct compound.

Moving swiftly on to avoid boring those without a chemical background (which I'll go ahead and assume is most people), I'm here to announce this month's Baking With Spirit challenge. Whilst last month I was not keen to go for the obvious, this month I am happy to; this month's challenge is a celebration of St. Patrick's day.

I would like you to bake me something with Bailey's, or any other Irish cream liqueur. From past experience, it goes very well in a chocolate icing, as per the Mudslide Cake I made for a friend a couple of months ago.

Get creative, have fun and then tell me all about it.

Here are the rules (complete set can be found here):

  • Bake something using an Irish cream liqueur (e.g. Bailey's)
  • Blog about it, linking back to my blog, Cake Of The Week, and this page, and mention Baking With Spirit.
  • Enter by midnight on 28th March
  • If you're on twitter you can tweet me @CakeOfTheWeek with your post and I will retweet you.
If you're looking for February's round up, I've not posted it yet - I don't want to overload the blog with new posts so will post it in a couple of days.

Happy baking!

  2. I was going to try hard to enter this month, but I don't have Baileys or similar and am loath to go out and buy some - but you never know! I like the idea of adding it to chocolate.

    1. Don't worry, I'm sure one month there will be something you havein the challenge! I'm not going to buy the real deal; you can buy knock-offs in most supermarkets for £5 or £6. I appreciate the thought though.

  4. Just made Irish brownie bites yesterday with Baileys! And, Irish whiskey, of course. Great minds do think alike. :) I'll be posting before SPD. Cheers, Janine!

  5. Completely ran out of time to participate in last month's challenge what with moving and all (sorry!), but I'm looking forward to making up for that with Bailey's! So many options, but what to choose…? Great choice of challenge ingredient :)
